Life’s phases

Tonight Josh was talking about his coworkers’ weekend plans, which included things like seeing an opera and going to a Chinese acrobatic performance. (This was mentioned as we ate instant waffles over our very messy and crumby kitchen floor, talking to Annelise in baby talk).

Right now our weekend plans include grocery shopping, cleaning up Legos, probably watching Jake & the Neverland Pirates, and of course lots of diaper changing. So we weren’t feeling the most cultured at the moment.

“That’s another phase,” I said, trying to help us feel better. “It’ll come.”

“I want to go, too,” Carson suddenly said (we didn’t know he was listening).

“To the new phase? Okay.” :)

“We go there in a car?”

It’s so fun to see how two-year-olds interpret things. And when we do get to our theater-going opera-enjoying museum-touring phase, I hope Carson (and our other kids) are enjoying it with us. :)

The only museum we’ve been to in the past year is the Children’s Museum. But that counts as culture…kind of…right? (Well, maybe it would if we left the Tot Spot…)
