Lately

Lately, we’ve been loving Carson.

And he’s been loving growing into new clothes. (Also, see that hair in the back? It loves to stick up like that. Always.)

And Carson loves baths. Well, we figure he either loves baths or is completely confused by them. Either way, any time we put him in the water, even if he’s fussy, he gets quiet and calm and just stares. But we think he likes them.

And he’s making more and more new sounds; in addition to grunts, now we get squawks and high-pitched coos.

And he makes the cutest faces! We could just stare at the faces he makes all day. Even in his sleep.

And the smiles – oh, the smiles! :)

Yep, we sure love our Carson!

One month old

Carson’s one month old today! Wow, one month? In a lot of ways, it’s hard to believe that it’s been just a month, in that it’s hard to think about life before Carson. He’s such a natural and amazing part of our family and feels like he always has been. And in other ways, time has just flown! People always tell you about having kids, “They grow up so quickly!” It’s one of those pieces of advice you hear so much it doesn’t really mean much…but now even after just one month, I can see how it’s true.

Here’s some updates on our favorite new baby:
  • Weighing just about 10 pounds
  • Now wearing size 1 diapers
  • Went to sacrament meeting for the first time today. He did great; didn’t cry or fuss too much, and mostly just slept in his baby carrier.
  • Stayed with a babysitter (aunt Brenn) for the first time this week, just for a couple hours, while Josh and I went to a BYU dinner. We suffered a little bit of Carson withdrawal, but survived with only one text message check-in with Brenn (who was nice enough to send a picture).
  • Making cute squawking and cooing noises more and more
  • Grunting a lot; yep, he’s a pretty big grunter
  • Likes baths: they calm him down, especially having his hair washed

Here’s a picture of Carson today in his Church outfit (sorry for the quality). But notice that he’s showing off his awesome part.

We sure love you, Carson!

Pictures!

Carson is wonderful! Josh and I love him so much and we can’t imagine life without him. Of course, he’s the cutest baby we’ve ever seen and we could just stare at the cute faces he makes all day. He’s a really good baby too and doesn’t cry too much (thanks, Carson!). Anyway, what you probably want to see most are pictures, so here we go! (Most pictures courtesy of my mom. It really comes in handy, having a mom who led a former life as a professional photographer. Most photographed grandbaby ever? I think so.)

Jackson Hole Trip

Once upon a time last month before Carson was born, we went on an awesome family vacation with the Lymans to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a ton of fun! Highlights include seeing Jenny Lake, hiking up to a very cool waterfall, eating some good barbecue, seeing cousins, watching the Harry Potter marathon on TV, swimming at the hotel pool, and visiting shops in town. Oh, and seeing Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at this historic theater. It was a blast!
