Lone stars and lonely stars
Ever since Carson learned about the state of Texas in preschool last year, any time he and Annelise see the Texas flag, they yell excitedly, “The lone star!”
Texas, the Lone Star state. Nice that they can identify the flag, right? And makes me as a Texan proud. But I was a little confused by their tendency to blurt out, “The lonely stars!” any time they saw the American flag.
I kept trying to correct what I thought was a mistake until they finally offered an explanation. Apparently all the little stars on the American flag are lonely because their dad (the Lone Star) is away, off adorning the Texas flag. Makes perfect sense, right? 😂
When you wake up to a herd of cows in your yard
So this morning Josh, the kids, and I looked up from breakfast to see six baby cows staring at us through our window.
You can even read a little news article about it. The driveway the cows are standing in in the news article? Yep, that’s ours. You can even see Josh and I in the YouTube video for a split second (0:35).
Here’s our own footage:
We’re just glad that the video in the news article didn’t happen to catch Carson standing out there in his underwear.
Quite an exciting morning, right? Now our driveway is all hosed off, so that’s good, and Annelise keeps asking when the cows are going to come back.
This is about the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard
Carson and Annelise talking to each other about the new baby:
Annelise: “If it’s a boy, then I will be happy, because you’re a boy, and I like you.”
Carson: “If it’s a girl, then I will be happy, because you’re a girl and I like you.”
