Family vacation up to the mountains

During the late summer, the three of us took a family vacation, just us, up to the mountains. It was low key and easy, but really just perfect. It was great to get away as a family, spend time together, eat out at a few restaurants, see some pretty scenery, and walk around and play. Carson loved it, for sure, and he did great. It was a great getaway for all of us. Here’s our pictures, just a big bunch of them. Enjoy!

Aurora Reservoir outing

So remember how Carson loves the beach? Unfortunately we’re not anywhere close to a beach, but we are only about 20 minutes from the Aurora Reservoir, a manmade lake thing with, guess what, a manmade beach! Woo hoo! We went up as a family one Saturday back when summer was here and it really was a lot of fun. We brought tinfoil dinners to cook over an outdoor stove (see, we had meant to go camping that weekend, but ran out of time and thought the reservoir would be just as fun), Carson splashed in the water, we chased some geese, we ate delicious food, we played in the park. All in all a great family outing.

Free Chick-fil-A

If you can’t tell, we’ve been really into free food lately. A few weeks ago (or wait, is it months now? Yes, definitely months; this was pre-pregnancy; I’m a little behind on posting) we dressed up as cow’s for Chick-fil-A’s cow appreciation day and got free Chick-fil-A! Pretty much the best possible food to be had (especially for free!) on the planet. Carson slept through the whole thing, but Josh and I sure loved it. :) (Also, Josh is mooing in all his pictures.)

If you noticed we were pretty classy cows, we went to my cousin Hillary’s wedding reception right after. It was a beautiful reception and we’re so glad to have Braxton in the family! Plus we got the only other free food that can compare with free Chick-fil-A at the reception: free Coldstone ice cream. Yep, we were pretty stuffed by the time the night was over. Do you ever wish you were a bear and could eat tons of delicious food at once, like before hibernation, and then just be good for a day or two? That night I sure did.
